Alleged Video Shows Karnataka DGP Hugging And Kissing Women In Office, CM Seeks Explanation
A major controversy has broken out in Karnataka after an alleged video surfaced showing senior IPS officer Dr Ramachandra Rao, a DGP-rank official, in intimate moments inside his office.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, has triggered strong reactions within the state government and police department.
Dr Ramachandra Rao, who is also the father of gold smuggling accused Ranya Rao, has firmly denied all allegations.
He has claimed that the video is completely fake and morphed, and said he is being deliberately targeted.
According to the video, the alleged video appears to show the officer hugging and kissing women inside his official chamber during office hours, while he was in uniform.
The visuals reportedly show different women visiting the office on separate occasions. While there are no claims of force or misconduct involving consent, the alleged acts taking place inside a government office have drawn sharp criticism.
The matter has reached Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who has been briefed by senior officials after the video came to light.
As per India Today, the Chief Minister was angry after watching the footage and has asked how such an incident could allegedly occur within the police establishment.
The government is now under pressure, with discussions underway on whether a formal inquiry or disciplinary action will be initiated.
Responding to the controversy, Dr Ramachandra Rao rejected the allegations outright. Speaking to the media, he said the video was fabricated and false, reported India Today.
He stated that the incident is being falsely linked to his past posting in Belagavi and stressed that an investigation is necessary to uncover the truth.
“This is shocking and completely untrue. The video is morphed. We have spoken to our advocate and will take appropriate legal action. An enquiry must be conducted to find out who is spreading such false information,” he told India Today.
The senior officer has also met the Home Minister to discuss the issue.
