Several Workers Injured As Under-Construction Bridge Collapses Bihar's Jalalpur

Vaishali, Bihar: At least seven workers were injured after a portion of an under-construction bridge was collapsed in Bihar’s Jalalpur on Thursday, September 10. The incident occurred near Lalganj in Vaishali district during work on a six-lane bridge under the NHAI’s Bharatmala project on NH-139W.

The accident happened when a launching gantry failed, injuring at least seven to eight workers. Two workers are reportedly in critical condition and is receiving advanced care.

According to NHAI, the main bridge structure remained undamaged. Authorities are reviewing safety protocols amid an ongoing investigation into a possible technical fault. People pointed out the past bridge collapses in the state, raising concerns over potential corruption in the public work department.

The opposition leaders questioned construction practices. Reacting to the incident, RJD leader Shakti Yadav slammed the government saying that  falling of bridges has become normal under this government and it is not a matter of surprise.

“All the companies from outside working in Bihar are looting the state. It is hard to say what will be the future of the bridges and pulls that are standing today,” the RJD leader added, news agency ANI qouted.
