Former Deputy Prime Minister and BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani, 98, was hospitalised at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals in New Delhi on Friday evening.

The senior leader was brought to the medical facility in Jasola Vihar at approximately 7:30 PM after experiencing a severe chest infection and sudden pulmonary complications.

Upon arrival, he was immediately admitted to the specialized pulmonary department.

Hospital authorities and official sources have released updates confirming that Advani’s condition remains stable, and he is responding well while keeping under close medical observation.

This marks the leader’s second major hospitalisation at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital this year.

He was previously admitted to the same facility in May due to age-related health issues and was successfully discharged after a few days of observation.

Additionally, he underwent medical management in the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) in late December 2024 for targeted health investigations.

LK Advani remains one of the most prominent figures in modern Indian political history, widely regarded as a chief architect of his political party BJP.

Beyond his tenure as the nation’s Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004 under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee administration, he also served as the Union Home Minister and completed three distinct terms as the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

His immense contributions culminated in him being conferred with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, earlier in 2024.

Just over a week prior to this hospitalisation, on October 7, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Advani’s private residence to seek his blessings.
