Gondia, Maharashtra: At least ten people died and several others were injured after a bus overturned in Maharashtra’s Gondia district. The bus reportedly lost control, leading to the accident. It was on the way from Bhandara to Gondia, and the accident took place in Bindravana Tola village on the Gondia-Arjuni road.
According to a report by India Today, the accident occurred around noon near Khajri village when the bus tried to avoid hitting a motorcycle that suddenly appeared in front of the moving vehicle on a turn, leading to the sudden manoeuvre causing the speeding bus to overturn. The bus had around 35 passengers on board.

The bus driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident, and the police have registered a case and are probing the tragic event.
Those who sustained injuries were shifted to the Dondia District Hospital. Visuals that surfaced on social media show a huge crowd, police vans, ambulances, and cranes around the bus to assist in rescuing the victims.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has ordered the transport administration to provide immediate assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the victims of the accident.

In a statement, the chief minister’s office said that eight bodies have been recovered from the accident site, while suggesting that the toll is likely to increase.
“Information about the situation was taken from the local administration. Instructions have been issued for immediate and proper treatment of the injured,” the statement added.
