After the BJP leader and the union minister Smriti Irani attacked the Congress party for declining the Ram Temple event invitation, the Assam chief minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma castigated the Congress party for rejecting the Ram Temple invitation saying that the party has done what Jawaharlal Nehru did with Somnath temple and that the history will continue to judge the Congress party as an “anti-Hindu party.”

The Assam chief minister also said that in his view the Congress party did not deserve the invitation because, the BJP leader says, of the Congress party”s views against the Ram Mandir. On inviting the Congress party to the Ram temple event, Himanta Biswa says the VHP (Vishva Hindu Parishad) gave a golden opportunity to the Congress party to reduce its sin by extending their invitation to attend the Shri Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav.

According to Himanta Biswa, the Congress could have symbolically made an apology to the Hindu Samaj by accepting the Temple event invitation, but with the Congress party maintaining its longstanding stance on the Ram temple, the BJP leader in a social media post on X (foremerly Twitter) says: “history will judge the grand old party as an anti-Hindu party.”

Yesterday, after the Congress party declined the invitation, the BJP leader Smriti Irani met the media slamming the Congress party saying that the party insulted Sanatana Dharma

Congress in a statement yesterday (Wednesday) declined the invitation to the Ram temple event noting that it is a “BJP/RSS event.” It accused the RSS and BJP of making a political project of the temple in Ayodhya while asserting that the Lord Ram is worshipped by millions and the religion is a personal matter. In its statement, it also said that it is obvious that the inauguration of the incomplete temple by leaders of the BJP and the RSS is for electoral gain in the impending general election.

However, the congress has taken a consistent stance in the highly politically sensitive Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. Many argue that when the BJP is relying on the Ram temple event as a potent political weapon to amass Hindu votes, the participation of the congress leaders would probably become another political boost for the BJP.

In addition, Some other political parties also refused the temple inauguration event, including the Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee terming it BJP’s “gimmick show”
