“Anyone putting their lives in such danger”, the Indian billionaire businessman and the chairman of Mahindra Group Anand Gopal Mahindra took his astonishment to X (formerly Twitter). He was talking about the condition of the Indian road from Shimla to the Pangi Valley along the Himalayan Mountain range. It is the Indian automotive tycoon expressing his surprise towards an Indian road, which is known to be the most dangerous to travel!
“There has to be some manipulation of the image here. I can’t imagine any road that precipitous”, wrote Mr Mahindra re-tweeting a video of travel through the mountain pass – treacherous and equally terrifying. The road is a one-line dirt-boulder pass where a minute mistake could end up to instant death. Only an expert driver could make it possible since those were carved out of the side of a steep cliff.
“Anyone putting their lives in such danger. And what’s the script saying? Someone please tell me if this is true or not…”, noted Mr Mahindra expressing his shock as well as eager to know about the authenticity of the video. Mr Mahindra is the co-founder of Indian multinational automotive manufacturing corporation Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, and is one of the largest vehicle manufacturers by production in India.
There has to be some manipulation of the image here. I can’t imagine any road that precipitous. Or anyone putting their lives in such danger. And what’s the script saying? Someone please tell me if this is true or not… https://t.co/gjaSh6tIbl

There is a substantial reason for his doubt and shock, because travelling through the pass is an utmost difficult task, has no run-off, no guardrail, but only elevated chances to slip down thousands of feet. The travel was covered extensively by many in recent times and one by a vlogging team named ‘Himalayan Roads’ in 2015 is very famous. The video is available on YouTube. The footage has more than seventy-five lakh viewers by the time and several had come up commenting on the bravery of Indian civilians and army personnel who drove the road from long ago.
To Mr Mahindra’s Tweet a user on X commented: “Yes sir. This is legit. I would rather walk than be on this bus. Gives me vertigo and panic attack just looking at the video”. “There are many such stretches in Himachal Pradesh & NE India. Even on the road from Manali to Rotang Pass, there”s a similar stretch before it passes through a glacier. Its scary. One miss and you are down the gorge into river Beas”, posted another user.
Another person expressed surprise on Anand Mahindra that even handling an automotive company, he was unaware of such roads in India. “I”m surprised you have not come across this before with a car company in India? There are literally no side guards, not enough width and gravelly roads in Himalayas. Not to mention slides and rocks falling…”, the user said.
