Confident Of Proving Numbers’: TVK's Vijay To Meet Governor Shortly To Discuss Govt Formation

Chennai, Tamil Nadu: After the Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was earlier not convinced of the TVK’s claim to form a government in Tamil Nadu following the actor Vijay’s blockbuster debut in politics, the politician is all set to meet the governor today.

The vijay-governor meeting will take place shortly, presumably to stake a confident claim to form the next government in Tamil Nadu. A TVK source has said that the party is confident of proving their numbers to form a government in the state.

Earlier, the governor was not convinced TVK had the numbers yet to form the government. The Congress has promised support and others are also expected to join. Following the results, TVK emerged as the single-largest party with 108 seats in the 234-member assembly. However, the Vijay-founded party fell short of the majority mark of 118, which is required to form a government.

The congress’ support has taken the total number to 113, and the party has been seeking backing from other key DMK allies such as CPI (two seats), CPM (two seats), and VCK (two seats).
