Congress Files Complaint Against Four NDA Leaders Over 'Threat' To Rahul Gandhi

Congress has filed a police complaint against several BJP leaders and members of its alliance partners for their open threat against the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi.

The complaint has been lodged against four leaders, including Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu, who recently called Rahul Gandhi a “number one terrorist” of the country. The BJP leader publicly made the statement to provoke and incite violence against the Congress leader, the complaint said, adding that UP government minister, Raghuraj Pratap Singh also made a similar statement on Monday, calling the opposition leader a “number one terrorist in India.”

The complaint then noted the statement of BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah for issuing a “death threat to Rahul Gandhi” on September 11, reportedly saying, “Rahul Gandhi, be careful, or the same fate will happen to you as it did to your grandmother.”

The complaint submitted today by Congress treasurer and former Union Minister Ajay Maken to the Tughlak Road Police Station, further noted the public announcement of Shiv Sena Shinde leader, Sanjay Gaikwad, the alliance partner of the saffron party in Maharashtra. The Shiv Sena leader had declared a bounty of Rs 11 lakh for the one who will cut throat of Rahul Gandhi, causing widespread outrage and condemnation.

The complaint said that the statements and intimidations exhibited the personal hatred of the BJP and NDA leader towards Rahul Gandhi, which was aimed at causing unrest among the general masses to provoke rioting.

The complaint further alleged that the mentioned leaders have been deputed to make hate-filled remarks against Rahul Gandhi, as the saffron party failed to address public-centric issues, which the opposition leader has been raising, including the issues of women, youths, Dalits, Adivasis, and other marginalised people.

Calling the LoP a number one terrorist, the complaint adds, not only undermines the public office he holds, but it obstructs the Congress leader from discharging his public duties to raise the failure of the incumbent government as a leader of the opposition.

“In view of the above, the above named persons, all connected with a common threat to the ruling BJP, hatched a well-planned criminal conspiracy with other known and unknown associates to commit the above acts,” the complaint added, requesting to register FIR at the earliest against all the mentioned NDA leaders.
