Delhi Court Summons Arvind Kejriwal On February 17 After ED's Complaint

A Delhi Court issued a summons to the Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, for February 17. Hearing the complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over non-compliance with the summons issued to him, the Rouse Avenue Court pronounced this ruling on Wednesday.

The central probe agency approached the Court against Arvind Kejriwal, when he skipped the summons for the fifth time on February 2. This summons were in relation to the alleged money laundering case in connection with the Delhi excise policy. AAP supremo has skipped the summonses for November 2 and December 21 in the previous year and January 3 and January 18 this year.

The federal agency filed the complaint under Section 174 of the IPC for non-attendance in obedience to an order from a public servant and Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act for non-compliance with summons issued by the ED, reports India Today.

“We are studying the court order and will take action as per the law. We will inform the court how all Enforcement Directorate summons were illegal,” AAP responded to the court summons.

Earlier in relation with the Delhi excise policy case, Senior AAP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and another AAP leader, Sanjay Singh, have been arrested.

Aside from the ED probe, Arvind Kejriwal is also facing an inquiry from the Delhi Police Crime branch in connection with his allegation that the BJP was attempting to lure Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs. Besides, the crime branch asked the AAP chief to reveal the names of AAP MLAs who were alleged to have been approached by the BJP.
