The national capital and its surrounding areas woke up to dense layer of fog on Friday morning, reducing the visibility to zero. The situation affected road, rail and air traffic in Delhi.
The Indian Railways report that 23 Delhi-bound trains were delayed up to six hours due to the prevalence of dense fog situation. Similarly, Indira Gandhi International Airport reported zero visibility due to “very dense fog conditions,” says India Meteorological Department (IMD).

As per the latest IMD reports, Delhi (Palam) and Airport (VIDP) is continue to report 0 m visibility in very dense fog conditions, and Delhi Safdarjung Airport (VIDD) is reporting 200m visibility in dense fog condition as 7. 30 am, Friday morning, and no significant change is expected during next 2 hours.

IMD also predicts a maximum temperature of 19-20 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature ranging from 5 to 9 degree Celsius in the coming week.
Delhi airport in their advisory urged the passengers to contact the respective airline for updated flight information.

Besides the cold wave, Delhi air quality has recorded “very poor” category on Friday morning, System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR)-India data reports. AQI categorises air quality into six levels, and they are identified ad Good (0-50), Satisfactory (51-100), Moderately polluted (101-200), Poor (201-300), Very Poor (301-400), and Severe (401-500).
