Jaipur, Rajasthan: In another shocking hit-and-run incident, visuals showed an SUV being rammed into people in Jaipur’s Nahargarh area, killing at least two and injuring many others. The CCTV visuals shared by news agency PTI show the SUV mowing down people and the driver continuing to drive despite the victims being trapped in the vehicle.

Speaking about the incident, SMS police station sub-inspector Kanhaiyalal confirmed that at least two people died, and nine others were injured in the incident. The injured have been undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital.

Sardarpura MLA and former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot slammed the driver stating that he was “drunk and criminal.”

“The incident of a drunk car driver crushing more than half a dozen people in Jaipur is heart-wrenching,” he said. The MLA also demanded that the “criminal who committed such an act” should be prosecuted under serious sections. “I pray for the peace of the souls of the two people who lost their lives in this accident and for courage to their families. I wish for the speedy recovery of those injured in this accident,” Gehlot wrote on X.

According to a report by news agency ISNI, locals chased the car and successfully stopped it as it tried to flee. “The driver, identified as Usman, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and is now in police custody,” the news agency reported.
