All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal while addressing a public gathering in Rupahihat, Assam on Tuesday challenged Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over his ‘Miya’ remark. He added that no matter how the government tries, the Assam CM will not be able to vacate the entire Miya community from the state. “CM cannot vacate Miyas from Guwahati even in 300 years,” he said.

Badruddin criticizing the Miya remark said, “No need to do so much Miya Miya. I challenge you, if the Miya community doesn”t exist in Guwahati, you won”t be able to eat food for three days. All your constructions will stop. Where do your vegetables come from? You must be wondering that you will clear out Guwahati of Miyas within three days. Not three years but even in 300 years you won”t be able to clear out Guwahati of Miyas”.

The AIUDF further said that he would quit politics if Himanta Sarma would be able to give proof of 8-year-old girls from the Muslim community being married off. He added that an FIR will be filed against Sarma before the Lok Sabha election, reports Pratidin Time.

On February 26, Assam Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma vowed to “not allow child marriage in Assam” and will outlaw child wedding in the state by the year 2026. The state then repealed the Assam Muslim marriages and Divorces Registration Act, 1935 amid opposition from the Congress and AIUDF.

Badruddin during his speech also expressed his confidence in winning all three Lok Sabha seats. He mentioned that the Congress is scared to lose the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat. “The AIUDF has fielded three constituencies and the remaining 11 constituencies have been given to the BJP by the Congress which is working as the B team of the BJP. Before 2026, the Congress party will be finished from Assam,” he said.
