Farmers Tractor March Today: Delhi-Noida To Witness Massive Traffic Jams

Farmers under Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) and Samyuktha Kisan Morcha (SKM) are set to hold a tractor rally along the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar today. Due to the planned tractor march, heavy traffic jams are expected at the Delhi-Noida border.

The Noida police has released a travel advisory ahead of the march warning commuters of potential disruptions and diversions in the Delhi-Noida border region. The BKU plans to conduct a tractor march along the Yamuna Expressway, stretching from Mehndipur in Rabupura to Falaida. In order to ensure the safety of the event, the police have implemented prohibitory orders under Section 144 and deployed additional personnel at key entry and exit points of Delhi and Noida, reports NDTV.

The police have sealed the Delhi-Noida border with barricades and will conduct checking of vehicles entering Delhi or Noida. The police has also requested the people not to use the Yamuna expressway and instead to use alternative routes or the metro to avoid any kind of inconvenience.

The Noida police have also outlined some measures which include, vehicles traveling from the Chilla border to Delhi are requested to use the Sector 14A flyover via Golchakkar Chowk Sector-15, and people coming from the DND border are requested to use the elevated route via the Filmy City flyover in Sector 18. Similarly, the vehicles from Kalinda border can navigate through the Mahamaya flyover via Sector 37.

Goods vehicles will also have to face the restrictions and the drivers were requested to use alternate paths to reach the destinations.

On Sunday, the Delhi police lifted portions of the barrier at the Singhu and Tikri borders as the farmers has decided to halt the march towards the national capital. Meanwhile, the SKM has announced that they will observe ‘Quit WTO Day’ on Monday. This is in the motive of demanding the Centre to pressure developed countries to keep agriculture out of the World Trade Organisation discussions.
