Creating a blanket of pink, the greater flamingos are the largest species of the flamingo family. The greater flamingos are taller and have light pink beaks with a dark tip. Found in Africa, the Middle East, southern Europe and the Indian subcontinent, the birds have made their way to Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu for their annual three-month journey.
Previously, Dhanushkodi, near Rameswaram, witnessed over 8,000 birds in the region, an increase by about 3,000 than the last year, according to G. Venketesan, the ranger in charge.
For bird enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, witnessing the flamingos in their natural habitat is a moment of sheer delight. With their long, slender necks and graceful movements, these magnificent creatures exude an aura of elegance and grace, drawing admirers from far and wide.
