Video of BJP MLA Geeta Jain amid the recent violence in Thane’s Mira Road has gone viral on social media. In the video, she made a controversial remark by claiming that only five minutes freehand would be enough to express the Hindu community’s power. She made this remark while talking to ANI about the alleged barricades being put up by the Muslims in the Naya Nagar area after the clash.
The BJP MLA recently made headlines for assaulting a junior engineer of the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. A video showing Geeta holding the collar and slapping the junior civic engineer, by calling him ‘nalayak (useless)’ in public view has gone viral last year.
Now her recent controversial remark has added another layer to her controversial reputation.
Geeta said, “If a simple family is celebrating their festival and women are carrying flags of their religion then no one can stop them as it is their right and if someone stops them from bursting firecrackers and push them, spit on them and vomit on them and also thrash them, saying “Will Your Ram come to save you?” and also force them to say Allah Hu Akbar. This is like taking away their freedom”.

The BJP MLA strongly opposing the restriction movement in Naya Nagar area which holds a significant Muslim population alleged that the Muslims have put up barricades in the areas restricting entry. The Aadhar cards of the individuals were asked of anyone who was entering the area.
She further added, “We are tolerant and not cowards.” When asked about Muslims taking 10-15 minutes(freehand), she claimed that yes, such videos are coming to the fore and said, “We are greater in numbers, if they need 10-15 minutes, we only need 5 minutes which will be good enough for them.”
Reports of violence from the areas are emerging despite heavy police presence. The clashes erupted between the communities on Monday, January 22, when the devotees were celebrating the Pran Pratishta ceremony on Mira Road. The procession of the devotees was pelted with stones by miscreants.
On Tuesday, illegal roadside stalls were demolished in Naya Nagar by the local civic body using bulldozers. Several such incidents of vandalism and clashes have been reported in the three days.
