Gujarat Girl Who Scored 705/720 In NEET Fails Class 12 Again

The Gujarat girl, who achieved an impressive score of 705 out of 720 in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) but failed her Class 12 board exams, has now failed her supplementary exams as well, rendering her ineligible for college admission. Her NEET result had stirred controversy due to the improbability of a NEET top scorer failing board exams.

She had initially failed her physics and chemistry papers in the March board exams. Despite taking the Gujarat board’s supplementary exams in June for a chance to improve, she has failed Class 12 overall. In the supplementary exam, she scored a mere 22 in physics, a slight increase from her previous score of 21. In chemistry, she got the minimum passing mark of 33, up from 31 in March. These results have led to skepticism about the legitimacy of her NEET score.

“These results cast serious doubts over the validity of her NEET score,” fact-checker Mohammed Zubair wrote on X.

Amid ongoing scrutiny of NEET irregularities by the Supreme Court, students are calling for an investigation into this case. They argue that it is highly unlikely for a student who cannot pass state board exams to achieve one of the highest scores in a highly competitive national entrance test.

When centre-wise and city-wise NEET-UG results were recently released, her mark sheets for both NEET and Class 12 science, bearing the same name, began circulating on social media. The stark difference between her NEET score and her board exam marks of 352 out of 700 raised eyebrows.

Her NEET score, which was adjusted to 700 after a Supreme Court ruling on a question in the exam, placed her in the top 99.89th percentile for physics, 99.14th for chemistry, and 99.14th for biology, achieving an overall rank in the 99.94th percentile. This exceptional score would normally guarantee a place in a top medical college, but her failure to pass Class 12 boards means she does not qualify for admission.
