Gujarat Police Arrests Five For Faking Toll Plaza And Swindling 75 Crore From Commuters

Police caught five men for faking toll plazas in Gujarat. The Gujarat police on Monday registered an FIR as the five men as they faked the government office and swindled around Rs. 18 crore to 75 crore from the commuters. The incident happened in Morbi district of Gujarat.

The news is going viral now. Some says the conmen has garnered Rs. 75 crore from the fake toll plaza they set up calling it a “Tollitical Science”.

The accused men created a toll booth away from the highway, and charged the passersby far less amount than the actual toll tax. After news went out about the toll booth which has been operating under the nose of district administration for past one and half years, police took actions. After confirming the case, an FIR was filed at the Wankaner city police station. The toll booth agency refused to file complain and instead local police step in to be the complainant.

The accused are Amarshi Patel, Ravirajsinh Jhala, Harvijaysinh Jhala, Dharmendrasinh Jhala and Yuvrajsinh Jhala. Apart from these five, other unidentified persons were charged with extortion, criminal breach of trust and several others, as per media report.

Amarshi Patel is owner of ceramic factory. The toll plaza was created within the vicinity of the closed ceramic factory named “White House”, and created alternative road to bypass the original toll plaza of the area named Vaghasiya which is situated on the Bamanbore-Kutch national highway.

The commuters never filed complaint because the accused charged less than the actual toll plaza. They charged Rs. 20 to Rs. 200 from cars to heavy vehicles where as the legitimate toll plaza charged Rs. 110 to Rs. 595.

Gujarat Minister Rushikesh Patel said “strict action will be taken against the culprits and they will be put behind bars”. While G T Pandya, the Morbi district collector said, the “information pertaining to the fake toll booth running for one and half year was not true”. He said the administration took immediate actions after the issue came into notice.
