Hidden Camera Found In Andhra College Women’s Washroom, Footage Sold: Reports

A hidden camera was found in the women’s hostel washroom at an engineering college in Andhra Pradesh, where it had been recording students. The footage was later leaked and sold to some students, according to officials.

The discovery of the camera at the Gudlavalleru Engineering College in the Krishnan district triggered outrage. Women students found the camera on Thursday evening. They organised a protest around 7 pm, which continued till morning. Their chants of “we want justice” rang out as they demanded answers and accountability.

The presence of the hidden camera and the leak of sensitive footage have left students shaken. Many are now scared to use the washroom and are avoiding the area altogether.

The police have arrested Vijay Kumar, a senior BTech student from the boys’ hostel, in connection with the incident, NDTV reported. His laptop has been seized, and an investigation is ongoing. Reports say that over 300 photos and videos from the women’s washroom were leaked and some students bought the footage from Vijay.

According to an India Today report, the college administration has denied finding any hidden cameras in the girls’ hostel. They said that they are fully cooperating with the police investigation. They have also decided to implement additional security measures on campus.

According to the police, they have reviewed the laptops, mobile phones, and other electronic devices of the accused in the presence of students and college staff, but no incriminating evidence was found. The police are investigating to determine if others were involved in setting up the camera and distributing the videos.

Earlier this month, a similar incident occurred in Bengaluru, where a phone was found hidden in a women’s washroom dustbin, recording videos. A content creator discovered the phone in a bag with a hole that was continuously recording.
