Hyderabad Police SI Dies In Hit-And-Run Incident During Ganesh Immersion Duty

Kothagudem, Hyderabad: Struck by an unidentified biker, Kothagudem Two-Town Sub-Inspector K. Venkanna died while being on security duty near Crane No. 2 on Tank Bund Road during the busy Ganesh idol immersion procession.

Though the official initially appeared to have minor injuries after the bike hit him, and returned home, he died later at MGM Hospital in Warangal from complications.

The video shows the biker hitting the police officer while trying to cross the road with another officer. The impact caused the officer to lose his balance and fall onto the road.

Believing that  he had suffered only minor injuries, Venkanna decided to return to Warangal. Later, he developed giddiness and was taken to MGM Hospital for treatment, and died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Police have filed a hit-and-run case, reviewing CCTV footage of the nighttime chaos with heavy traffic and crowds to trace the rider.
