Trinamool Congress National spokesperson Saket Gokhale took to his social media handle claiming that BJP MP Piyush Goyal said that all opposition leaders will be suspended soon.

He stated in the post that during a private conversation with the BJP MP Piyush Goyal, Gokhale alleged that Piyush Goyal told him that it will look bad for the ruling party if they suspends all the opposition leaders, when TMC MP quizzed about the unsuspension of small bunch of opposition leaders in the house.

“I asked @PiyushGoyalS why the small bunch of us remaining INDIA MPs weren’t being suspended in the Rajya Sabha despite protesting in the well. Because 46 of our INDIA colleagues got instantly suspended for the same thing a day earlier. He says “Because if there’s zero Opposition MPs left, it looks bad for us,” he wrote on X.

The BJP MP further added that rest all will be suspended before Union Minister Amit Shah table the criminal law bills in the parliament.

“But then he added – “Don’t worry, you’ll all be suspended before @AmitShah ji comes to Rajya Sabha to table the criminal law Bills”, TMC MP added.

Gokhale then alleged that, “this is what our Parliament has now become reduced to under Modi’s orders”.

So far, a total of 141 MPs, 95 from Lok Sabha and 46 from Rajya Sabha were suspended from the Parliament for “disorderly conduct” in the house. This suspension of parliament members is the largest in the country’s history. The decision to suspend these MPs came after INDIA bloc MPs demanded a statement from Union Minister Amit Shah on the security breach in the house that happened on December 13.

With the opposition reduced to one-third of its strength in the Lok Sabha after the suspension of MPs, the government has taken up the contentious bills to replace the existing criminal laws for consideration.
