Congress General secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday visited the flood affected Himachal districts, reviewing relief and restoration plans, which are underway, by the Congress-run state government.
“If the central government declares this disaster as a national disaster, the state will get a lot of help”, said Ms Gandhi to the media, while visiting the disaster victims in Manali.
According to the reports, the state has suffered losses up to Rs 8,600 crore due to rain, flash floods, and landslides.
“Himachal government is continuously helping the people at its level to deal with the disaster”, she said.
“But if the central government declares this disaster as a national disaster, the state will get a lot of help. I appeal to the Modi government to change the policies for apple farmers also”, she added.
