New Delhi: According to a memorandum issued by the government on Saturday, Nidhi Tewari, a 2014-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has been appointed as the private secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on March 29 states that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved her appointment with immediate effect.

Previously, Tewari served as Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) since November 2022. During this time, she worked in the Foreign and Security vertical reporting to National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval. Her focus areas included foreign affairs, nuclear energy, security matters, and issues related to Rajasthan.

Before that, she was the Under Secretary at the Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in 2022.

As per reports, Tewari began her career by clearing the Civil Services Examination in 2013.

Before passing the exam, she reportedly worked as an Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Tax) in Varanasi while simultaneously preparing for the Civil Services.
