India On High Alert: Centre To Convene All Party Meeting Today
New Delhi: Amid the heightened tension between India and Pakistan following India’s Operation Sindoor, striking multiple ‘terror sites’ across Pakistan and Pak-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the Union Government has convened an all-party meeting on Thursday to brief the leaders about Wednesday’s mission. The operation, which lasted about 28 minutes – from 1.04 to 1.32 pm – killed 31 people in Pakistan, while the cross-border shelling from Pakistan claimed 12 lives, including a solider on the Indian side.
On Wednesday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju in a post on X informed that an all-party leaders meeting has been called, set to be held in Committee Room: G-074, in the Parliament Library Building, Parliament Complex in New Delhi.

In the meeting, which is expected to start at 11 am, political parties will be briefed on aspects of Operation Sindoor, including the objectives of the operation, the terror targets hit, the strategic and security impact, and India’s preparedness in the event of any retaliatory actions from Pakistan. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be briefing the developments to the leaders.
India carried out the operation, dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor’, in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, in which terrorists gunned down 26 people, including 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen.

After India’s response to the terrorist attack, government issued a statement saying that its actions have been “focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature”. “No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution,” the statement added.
India’s strikes inside Pakistan came two weeks after the horrific incident. One of the nine targets India hit reportedly includes Lashkar-e-Toiba’s headquarters in Muridke and major terror training sites in Bahawalpur, long being considered breeding grounds for extremist operations. Following the operation, Pakistan has resorted to heavy shelling across the border areas, inflicting casualties on the Indian side.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed to retaliate, stating, “We will avenge the blood of our innocent martyrs.”
