BJP MP Nishikant Dubey“s recent remark that if Dawood Ibrahim contest from Uttar Pradesh he has chances of winning the election has erupted controversy on social media platform X. Slamming his statements, X users wrote it as “insulting Uttar Pradesh voters.”

Nishikant Dubey hit headlines for lodging complaint against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla which then began the infamous cash-for-query scandal. After prolonged silence, on allegation surrounding Mahua Moitra and about the chances of her expulsion from Parliament, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee responded that it will advance her popularity and her chances in next year”s general election.

In response, Nishikant Dubey stated that Mamata Banerjee is fond of people like Mahua Moitra and Dawood Ibrahim. Adding further he said: “If Dawood Ibrahim also contests from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, then I think there is a 99% chance that he will win the election. So, if Mamata Ji”s theory is correct, this means that Dawood Ibrahim is not a traitor,” ANI quotes as he is saying.

Nishikant Dubey then said that Mahua Moitra provided login credentials not just to Darshan Hiranandani. It was logged in from multiple places including Delhi, Bengaluru, and San Francisco. “This is a big conspiracy… It is the history of the INDI alliance that they like corrupt, traitorous individuals like Dawood Ibrahim,” he emphasised.

Meanwhile, his remarks that  Dawood Ibrahim has chances of winning the election on Uttar Pradesh created reaction on X as “insulting the voters of Uttar Pradesh”, and extending it on his party”s government and colleagues. Journalist Rohini Singh wrote on X: “Degree Dubey with an affinity to insult women when he can’t counter them factually has now taken to insulting the voters of Uttar Pradesh and by extension his own party’s government and colleagues. So Nirahua, the BJP MP from Azamgarh, is an agent of Dawood?”

Lok Sabha Ethics Committee sent report concerning the expulsion of TMC MP to Lok Sabha Speaker and decision is awaiting.
