The 77m-long and 10m-wide bowstring arch marvel, built at Rs 37 crore, offers an adventurous experience to tourists. Since the statue has been a major tourist attraction of the state, it will transform the district’s tourism atmosphere, allowing tourists to access it despite rough seas and low water levels.

The state government planned to celebrate the anniversary as a three-day extravaganza concluding on January 1. However, due to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s passing, the art programs scheduled for December 31st were cancelled, and the January 1 event was postponed to tomorrow. The state’s chief minister will inaugurate the marvellous glass bridge at 4:30 pm today.

To commemorate the occasion, the seashore was decked out in colourful lights, and a laser light show was set to illuminate the statue at night. The entire vicinity of Kanyakumari has been decorated with bright lights, and tourists can enjoy a stunning view of the statue and the surrounding area.

As part of the festivities, MK Stalin will present the awards to 25 Tamil scholars and will inaugurate the Thirukural exhibition today. The Chief Minister will also visit the Poompuhar boat station and pay floral tributes to Padamalar.

The Thiruvalluvar statue, which is considered a ‘Statue of Wisdom,’ located in the middle of the Kanyakumari Sea, was installed in the year 2000 and was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. The statue has been a major tourist attraction in Kanyakumari, and the silver jubilee celebrations are expected to draw large crowds.
