New Delhi: The BJP Central Disciplinary Committee on Sunday, December 1, issued a show-cause notice to Senior Karnataka MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal over remarks against state party leadership.
The notice signed by Committee Member Secretary Om Pathak has allotted a 10-day deadline for Yatnal to report why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.

“Your continuing tirade against the state-level party leadership and your defiance of party directives and making public pronouncements and stance in contravention of party’s official stand on all matters of political and public importance has been reported in media as well as by different party forums,” the notice read.
The notice further added that despite issuing a show cause notice several times earlier and his pledge to good conduct, “the acts of indiscipline continue unabated,” he added. Considering Yatnal’s seniority and long-serving in the party, the Central Disciplinary Committee took a moderate view on the explanations submitted by him in the past, the notice stated.
“False and veiled allegations levelled by you against the party leaders together with defiance of the official stand of the party on matters of political and public importance, constitute a serious breach of the party discipline as defined in Article XXV of BJP Party Rules ‘Breach of Discipline section (a) and (1),” the notice read.
Yatnal is seen as the leader of the group of “rebel” BJP leaders who are discontented with the present state leadership. Former Union Minister of State, he has been a staunch critic of BJP Veteran leader B.S. Yediyurappa and his son and party State president B.Y. Vijayendra. He alleged that Vijayendra has a close relation with Congress leaders such as Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar. Recently, Yatnal and a team of disgruntled leaders started a parallel campaign against Waqf row.

Interestingly, Yatnal and his team of BJP leaders have reached Delhi on Sunday night to meet the party’s central leadership. They were planning to discuss several issues and submit preliminary report on the Waqf campaign. The show-cause notice follows Vijayendra’s meeting with the party leadership in Delhi on Saturday, detailing the discontents currently happening in the State.
As the intern strife between Vijayendra loyalists and Yatnal team has increased, it posed significant tension within the state BJP.
