
Massive Fire Erupts Near Hyderabad's Charminar: At Least 17 Killed
Hyderabad, Telangana: At least 17 people have been killed in a massive fire that erupted in a building near Hyderabad’s iconic Charminar on Sunday morning. The victims include women and children, and several more remain trapped as a rescue operation is underway.
The tragic incident occurred near Gulzar House in the Hyderabad Old City at around 6 am this morning. After getting a call, fire department officials rushed to the spot with at least eleven fire engines, fighting the blaze. The rescuers have saved around 15 people, as per the latest updates.

The reason for the fire is yet to be confirmed, and it is reported that a short circuit may have led to the tragedy. Telangana chief minister, Revanth Reddy, expressed sorrow over the incident, and instructed the officials to step up relief efforts and ensure the best treatment for those injured.
The chief minister said he spoke to Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and learned the details of the incident.

“The Chief Minister is constantly inquiring about the actions being taken by the police and fire departments. He has issued orders to immediately shift the injured to hospitals and provide them with proper medical assistance. The Chief Minister, who also spoke to local families over the phone, assured them that the victims would be protected. “He instructed IG Nagi Reddy to closely monitor the relief efforts,” the CMO said in a social media post.

In a social media post on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office said he was “deeply anguished” by the loss of lives, and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. May the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000,” the PMO wrote on X.

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy said the family affected in the fire lived on top of their shop in the Gulzar House area. He said he met the family members. Stating that he was not accusing anyone, the minister said the police, municipality, fire and electricity departments must be made stronger.
“I was told the firefighters today did not have proper equipment initially. We must bring better technology in the coming days. I will talk to the central government and the Prime Minister and try to get financial help for the families of those who died in this incident,” NDTV quoted the Union Minister
