“Peace shall return soon in Manipur”, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha, on Thursday. He also attacked the credibility of Congress and the newly formed opposition bloc ‘INDIA’.
Mr Modi was replying to the no-confidence motion moved by the opposition against the BJP led government over the ongoing ethnic violence in the North Eastern Indian state of Manipur.
“The government is doing everything possible to punish the accused in Manipur”, replied Mr Modi.
“The country is with you, this Parliament is with you. We will together find ways to resolve this challenge, peace will be established again soon”, PM assured.
He also expressed concern over the ‘unforgivable’ crimes against women taking place in Manipur. “I want to tell the women of Manipur that the country and the Parliament stand with them”, he said.
Mr Modi accused the Congress party and their earlier policies as the root cause of all the problems in the Northestern states.
Even as we discussed the No-Confidence Motion, there were important Bills pending for discussion for which the Opposition showed no interest. This is saddening. pic.twitter.com/4B9d2lA04y

“Opposition is hungry for power, and they don”t care about the hunger of the poor people”, Mr Modi said. He criticised the Congresses” idea of ‘reversing its fortune’ by changing the name from UPA (The United Progressive Alliance) to INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance). From ‘poll symbols to ideas’, Congress has ‘nothing as its own”, he added.
“By 2028, when the opposition brings another no-confidence motion against my government, India will be among the top three economies in the world”, PM Modi expressed confidence about the victory in the upcoming 2024 Parliament elections.
“Our focus should be on the development of the country. It is the need of the hour”, he said, entrusting the power of the youth of the nation.
The no-confidence motion is ‘politically-motivated’ to ‘mislead’ people and spread confusion, said the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the parliament on Wednesday.
Mr Shah has also slammed the opposition by compiling the achievements of the union government, under PM Modi, in the past nine years.
