Owaisi Slams Media For Double Stand In Uttarakhand Cow Slaughter Case

The death of 24-year-old man in Uttarakhand alleged cow slaughter, from drowning in a pond in Haridwar, has ignited a strong debate on social media.

As per the media report, Wasim Qureshi Monu, allegedly drowned in a pond while attempting to evade arrest by a cattle protection squad on Saturday night.

However, Wasim’s family has contradicted the claims by stating that the officials had assaulted him before throwing him into the pond. The family member alleged that Wasim’s teeth were completely broken, and his head and face had fractures.

There were marks on the legs suggesting they were tied up.

Reacting to the incident, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi lashed out at the media for carrying the police narrative.

“According to reports, in the name of cow smuggling, Uttarakhand police beat up Muslim youth Wasim and threw him in a pond and fabricated a false story that Wasim jumped into the pond after seeing the police,” he wrote on X.

Slamming the media for not taking a proper stance reporting cow vigilante, he further added, “Then how did Wasim get injury marks on his face and body? The media has not even mentioned this. Those who can talk for hours about the women of Iran and the Hindus of Bangladesh are not concerned about Wasim. The policemen should be prosecuted for murder.”

As per the media report, after receiving information about cow slaughter, a team headed to Madhopur village under the Gangnahar police jurisdiction in the Haridwar district. The police said that when they asked Wasim to stop his scooter, he accelerated and jumped into a pond to escape.

The police claimed that since it was dark, they were unable to locate him thus they found the body the next day morning.
Initially, the villagers protested and prevented the police from taking the body. However, after an intense argument, the police took the body into custody and sent it for a postmortem.

Wasim’s family had filed a complaint against the police. The family had also highlighted that the police failed to provide any evidence of the alleged cow meet.

As per the Deccan Herald report, the police filed a counter FIR in which the police official claimed, “The crowd accused us of shooting their man and throwing him into the pond. Around 100-150 people obstructed our work, held us hostage, abused and beat us, threatened to kill us, and removed evidence from the scene.”
