Rs 3 Crore Fine Imposed On Karnataka Minister Rudrappa Lamani Over Quarry Licence Violation

Bengaluru, Karnataka: Haveri district Minister Rudrappa Lamani, who owns a quarry near Hunasikatti in Ranebennur taluk of Haveri has been slapped with a hefty fine of Rs 3 crore for allegedly violating rules in connection with stone quarry licences.

The fine was imposed by Department of Mines and Geology, issuing a notice and giving six months to pay the penalty in three instalments.

Over 60 other  stone quarry owners in Haveri have also been fined for allegedly violating licence conditions by encroaching on land and extracting stone beyond the permitted area.

The Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre (KSRSAC) had conducted a drone-based survey following complaints of violations, and the report found that several quarry operators had breached the licence conditions.

After an investigation, officials imposed penalties on the quarry owners in the district, including minister Lamani.
