RTI Reply Refuses To Reveal PM Modi's Salary

Ajay Bose, the Amravati-based activist Ajay Bose filed an RTI (Right to Information) requesting information regarding the monthly salary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

However, the RTI response was as follows, “The Prime minister’s pay and allowances are given as per the provisions of the ‘The Salaries and Allowances of Ministers Act, 1952’ as amended from time to time.”

The Salaries and Allowances of Ministers Act, 1952, deals with the salaries and allowances of the Council of Ministers. On the basis of this act, the salaries are determined by the Parliament.

Ajay Bose highlighted the right of each citizen to know the salary of the Prime minister on his X post, he wrote, “Why is

An RTI query in 2013 had earlier revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had drawn a monthly salary of Rs 1.6 lakh. His basic salary will be Rs 50,000, with a sumptuary allowance of Rs 3,000, a daily allowance of Rs 62,000, and an MP allowance of Rs 45,000.

As per the Financial Express, Prime minister is said to receive Rs 1.66 lakh as per month as salary. And in terms of allowances, India’s Prime minister SPG staff. Air India One, an exclusive aircraft, is available for the Prime minister for all his/ her state visits and other official travel. The official residence of India’s PM is 7, Race Course Road located in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi possesses assets amounting to a little over Rs 3 crore, most of it in bank fixed deposits, according to his election affidavit.

The movable assets are worth Rs 3,02,06,889. Most of his assets are in the form of fixed deposits with the State Bank of India that total over Rs 2.85 crore.

While other assets include four gold rings weighing 45g valued at Rs 2.67 lakh, cash in hand totalling Rs 52,920, National Savings Certificate worth Rs 9.12 lakh and income tax deduction of Rs 3.33 lakh for the past financial year, as per the Hindu.
