'She Refused To Return Home': Karnataka Man Allegedly Kills Estranged Wife, Sister-In-Law

A shocking double murder has been reported from Karnataka, where a 30-year-old man allegedly killed his estranged wife and her younger sister before surrendering to the police.

The incident took place early on Monday in Chintamani, around 85 km from Bengaluru. According to police, the accused, identified as Ejaz, travelled from Kolar to his wife’s parental home, where she had been staying for the past few months.

Investigators said Ejaz allegedly entered the house in the early morning and attacked his wife, Shama (25), and her 18-year-old sister, Reshma, while they were asleep. Both women suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Police said the couple’s three young children were inside the house when the attack took place.

After the incident, the accused allegedly took the children with him to his residence in Kolar before walking into the local police station and surrendering. Police later informed the Chintamani authorities, who began their investigation.

According to officials, Shama had been living with her family in Chintamani for nearly four months after visiting the town following her mother’s death.

Police believe disputes between the couple had intensified after she decided not to return to her husband’s home despite his repeated requests.

Preliminary findings suggest that the ongoing marital conflict may have been the motive behind the crime. However, police said the investigation is continuing, and all aspects of the case are being examined.

Family members alleged that the marriage had been troubled for several years. They claimed Ejaz frequently harassed Shama and was addicted to alcohol and gambling.

According to relatives, community elders had attempted to resolve the couple’s disputes on multiple occasions, but the problems continued.

The family also alleged that Ejaz had previously threatened Shama and her sisters. After her mother’s death, Shama reportedly decided to remain at her parental home and had informed her family that she no longer wanted to live with her husband.

Police have registered a case and are carrying out further investigation to establish the complete sequence of events.
