Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla on the conclusion of the Parliament’s first session informed that 103 per cent of productivity was achieved, according to the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
Om Birla said that a total of 7 sittings were conducted during the session for about 34 hours. The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha commenced on June 24 and was concluded on July 2 with the Prime Minister’s reply.

During the session, 539 newly elected members took oath and it also saw the re-election of Om Biral as the speaker. 50 members had given speeches throughout the session.
The president’s address on June 27 led to an 18-hour discussion, with 68 members participating. The session concluded with the passage of the Motion of Thanks by the President for the joint sitting of Parliament.
On June 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the Council of Ministers to the House. The proceeding of both houses of Parliament was marked by fiery speeches.
Issues such as the NEET-UG exam, paper leaks, the Agnipath scheme and Manipur were taken for discussion. Several of the comments of the leader of the opposition Rahul Gandhi were expunged from the record by order of the Speaker.
Defense minister Rajnath Singh moved a resolution condemning the Opposition’s behavior during Prime Minister Modi’s reply, as they were sloganeering and disrupting his speech.

The release also added that Birla expressed his gratitude to Bhartruhari Mahtab, Pro-tem speaker for the smooth conduct of the proceeding during the Oath of the members and election of the speaker.
With a total of 41 matters taken up under Rule 377, 3 statements were made under Direction 73 A. Apart from this, 338 papers were laid during the Session, informed Birla.
