Students’ Death In Delhi Institute: NSUI Demand Rs 2Cr Ex-Gratia To The Kin Of The Civil Service Aspirants

After three students of Rau’s IAS coaching centre in central Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar died as rainwater suddenly flooded the library in the building’s basement on Saturday evening the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) demanded an ex-gratia of Rs 2 crore to the kin of those who lost their lives. NSUI’s national president Varun Choudhary demanded the resignation of Rajinder Nagar MLA Durgesh Pathak who is under fire negligence that caused the death of three students who were engaged in the preparation of coveted Indian Civil Services.

Aiming his arrows at the Central and the Delhi governments, Varun Choudhary said both the parties are keep fighting each other over transfer posting, however, none of them have taken responsibility for this incident.

“We demand an ex-gratia of Rs 2 crore to the kin of those who lost their lives. The Centre and the Delhi government keep fighting each other over transfer posting. However, none of them have taken responsibility for this incident. AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak has not taken responsibility of the incident. He should resign from his position,” Mr Choudhary told news agency PTI in an interview.

“This is a very sad incident in which three students have died…I would say this is the murder of the students because of the administration. Earlier also complaints were lodged regarding this building…Everyone was aware that it was a monsoon session still the cleaning work was not done… This is not the first incident in Rajinder Nagar, earlier also several incidents have taken place here in which students have faced problems…Every time the Central government and the Delhi government ignore the problems of the students,” he told news agency ANI.

Angry students have been protesting outside the coaching institute since the incident happened, raising slogans.

As per the reports, except the three, rest of the nearly 30 students who were inside the basement of the institute were either escaped or rescued.
