On Wednesday, the state government lifted a six-year ban on transfers of employees and directed the concerned heads of departments to begin the process. The transfers will be made during the period between July 1 and July 20. The ban will be reimposed on July 21.

The employees should submit their applications with options between July 9 and 12. Between July 13 and 18, verification of applications and preparation of the master list after counselling will be completed.

As per a government order issued by the special chief secretary of finance, K. Ramakrishna Rao, no employees will be transferred before the completion of two years of service in a particular station as of June 30. However, this need not be followed with regards to transfers on spouse grounds.

Employees who completed four years of service in a particular station as of June 30 will not be retained; however, those retiring before June 30, 2025, will not be transferred even after completing the four years, unless a specific request for transfer is made by them.

No more than 40 percent of employees in any cadre will be transferred to ensure no dislocation of work occurs. All clear vacancies will be published before seeking options from employees.

The education department will create detailed operational guidelines for the transfer of teachers and lecturers based on the transfer policy.

The decision is expected to benefit over three lakh employees working in different departments and 1.5 lakh government school teachers.
