Telangana Tribal Girl May Lose Out On Seat In IIT Patna Amid Financial Hardships

Badavath Madhulatha, a tribal student from Rajanna Sircilla village in Telangana, secured a seat at IIT Patna with a remarkable 824th rank in this year’s JEE under the ST category. However, some unfavorable familial conditions have forced her to be at home instead of joining college.

Madhulatha’s father is currently ill, which forces her to take on the responsibility of grazing goats to help support her family. Madhulatha is a student of Tribal Welfare Junior College, who is facing the challenge of submitting for the hostel fee and other miscellaneous expenses summing up to Rs 3 lakh. Amid the financial and family situations the future of this young girl is uncertain.

Notably, ST students get fee waivers but they have to bear hostel accommodation and other necessary expenses which is currently a bigger issue for Madhulatha and her family. Reportedly, the girl belongs to an economically backward family and even can not afford to go to the state college to get the degree. If she does not get security for her finances, the tribal young girl will lose her seat in IIT.
