Uttarakhand Tunnel Operation At Its Last Phase

The rescue operations to take out the 41 workers trapped under the debris of collapsed tunnel in Uttarakhand is in progress. The rescue operation got stuck while mere 12 meter away from the trapped workers. The operation was delayed for around 12 to 14 hours and resumed to work this morning. Earlier, the operation was blocked due to “an iron metal” that came in way of the rescue. It was now removed.

Post rescue preparations are done. And the Ambulances and hospitals are ready to take the victims, said Uttarakhand CM, Pushkar Singh Dhami. The plan is to drill 60 metres and push in a 900 mm pipes to make it possible for the workers to crawl out safely. It has been 12 days since the workers got trapped under the tunnel.

The Uttarakhand Chief Minister said, “the rescue is at its final stages, there are some obstacles. But I hope that the workers are rescued as early as possible. Post rescue preparations have been done. ambulances and Hospitals are ready for their check-ups and treatment”, as quoted by Times OF India.

After encountering with all the obstacles, the operation was met with yet another block when an iron metal came in the way while only 12-15 meters were left to reach the trapped workers. the iron mush is said to be cleared and the operation will be completed in few hours, said report.

The tragical incident occurred on November 12th, early morning around 4 am, as the tunnel meant to connect Silkyara to Dandalgaon in Uttarakhand‘s Uttarkashi collapsed partially. The rescue and relief operations are underway and the workers trapped inside were reportedly contacted through walkie-talkies. The workers are all unharmed and were given food and oxygen through pipe, said the officials.
