Eight men were arrested from Tamil Nadu’s Chennai on Wednesday as the state police uncovered a prostitution racket operating under the guise of ‘wife swapping’ parties, reports the Times of India. The organisers of the parties reportedly introduced women to the single men as their wives and encouraged them to swap partners. The parties were promoted through various social media platforms, charging Rs 13,000 and Rs 25,000 for entry. So far, eight have been arrested and were remanded in custody. A police investigation on the matter is underway.

It was the city police at Panaiyur on East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai unwrapped the prostitution racket, who were organized in the name of ‘wife swapping’ parties using social media advertisements. The arrested eight men were said conducting such parties in Chennai as well as in tier-two cities like Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, and Erode for at least the last eight years.

The more money they pay, the more women will accompany them at the beach house”. The anti-vice squad of the Chennai city police rescued several women, all aged between 20 and 40, early on Monday morning. The women were all married but lured by big amount of money offered for the swap party.

The police was notified to the incident by the neighbours of the area. The large number of men coming and going out with music and booze stretching beyond midnight caused suspicion about the Paniyur house. As police stormed to the house, several businessmen were reportedly spotted with women in separate rooms.

The women were left home with their family members by the police, after filing a written undertaking. The arrested eight were produced to court on Tuesday and were remanded in judicial custody following the procedures.
