Zubeen Garg Poisoned? Bandmate Alleges Foul Play By Singer's Manager & Festival Organiser
In a shocking new development in the death of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, his bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, on Saturday, has alleged that Garg may have been poisoned by his manager Siddharth Sharma and festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta during a yacht party in Singapore, and that the incident was later staged as an accident.
According to the reports, Goswami made this explosive claim while speaking to investigators, adding a dramatic twist to what was initially believed to be a tragic drowning.
He said Sharma’s behaviour on the yacht was highly suspicious, raising serious questions about the real cause behind Garg’s sudden and untimely death.
According to Goswami, shortly before Zubeen’s death on September 19, Siddharth Sharma took complete charge of the yacht and stopped others from serving drinks to the singer.

During the party near St John’s Island, Singapore, Zubeen reportedly began frothing from the mouth and nose, showing signs of severe medical distress. However, Sharma allegedly dismissed the symptoms as “acid reflux” and did not allow immediate intervention.
As the situation worsened and Garg appeared to be struggling to breathe, Goswami claims Sharma was heard shouting “Jabo de, jabo de”, Assamese for “let him go”, suggesting that help was deliberately withheld as Zubeen drowned.
Goswami further stated that Zubeen was a strong swimmer, and under normal circumstances, he would not have drowned. The combination of strange behaviour, physical symptoms, and inaction from the people around him, Goswami believes, points to clear foul play.
Both Siddharth Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta have strongly denied the allegations and claimed the singer’s death was accidental. However, these fresh claims have brought them under renewed scrutiny, especially as they were closely involved in organising the event in Singapore where the tragedy occurred.

The case is now being treated as more than just a drowning, with investigators focusing on the possibility of deliberate poisoning and a cover-up.
Following Goswami’s statement, the Assam Police have intensified the investigation. Sources confirm that central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Income Tax Department are also expected to join the probe, looking into financial links, insurance policies, and possible motives for murder or conspiracy.
Authorities are also reviewing video footage, including clips of Zubeen in the water filmed by others at the party, and digital evidence from mobile phones seized during the investigation.
Zubeen Garg’s fans across Assam and beyond have reacted with shock and anger following the new revelations. His wife, Garima Saikia Garg, and several close associates have urged for a transparent and high-level investigation to uncover the truth behind the singer’s death.
