Bhopal, 14 June 2025 – A sweeping cabinet decision in Madhya Pradesh has unlocked the possibility of 2 lakh vacancies in government services, promising a major wave of fresh recruitment across the state. This follows the resolution of a longstanding gridlock over promotions.

In Monday’s cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that promotions of officers and staff — pending for nine years — have finally been approved. The decision is expected to benefit roughly 2 lakh public sector employees, creating a significant number of vacancies that will be filled through new hires.

“Today, in the cabinet meeting, the matter of promotion of employees and officers of the state, which was pending for 9 years, was resolved. In this, the interests of employees and officers of all categories, including SC-ST, have been taken care of. Through this, after promotion, 2 lakh posts will be vacant in government services and there will be a possibility of fresh recruitment on these,” Mr Yadav tweeted.

Job seekers in Madhya Pradesh are advised to monitor official announcements, as the government plans to launch the recruitment process shortly. The precise timeline and application procedure will be published by relevant authorities, including the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) and the State Employees Selection Board.

This recruitment move, reportedly, aligns with the state’s broader objective to employ one lakh candidates annually and 2.5 lakh over the next five years, a pledge made during the Chief Minister’s recent address in Seoni Malwa. Several key sectors are expected to be impacted, including administrative services, education, healthcare, public works and security forces.

The promotion freeze, in place since 2016, also affected roughly 4 lakh government employees who were barred from advancing in rank due to judicial and administrative delays. With the cabinet’s approval, the government has adopted a vertical reservation model, ensuring that promotions and subsequent recruitment are aligned with category-based quotas.

Yadav further confirmed auxiliary support for security in Naxal-affected areas, announcing 850 new posts under the Special Auxiliary Force, and reaffirmed his commitment to welfare and employment schemes, including health insurance for staff and appointment letters for 33 engineering officers recently .
