Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducted Computer Based Examination for Grade ‘C’ Stenographer on February 6, 2024, for the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Those who have qualified for the first stage of the examination have been called for the skill test conducted on April 23, 2024, in Delhi. Commission has uploaded the lists of selected candidates on its official website – ssc.gov.in.
As per the information provided in the official release, the exam was conducted to fill departmental vacancies of Stenographers Services in the Central Secretariat, Indian Foreign Service Branch (B), Armed Forces Headquarters, Railway Board Secretariat, and Election Commission of India.
The result shows two combined releases, one for 2018 and 2019 and a combined release for 3 years which includes 2020, 2021, and 2022. Five separate lists have been prepared for the different years. In 2018 lists 464 students have been called for the next round of skill tests. In 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 lists, 617, 807, 842 and 821 candidates have been called respectively.
SSC Grade ‘C’ Stenographers Exam: A big question of accountability
Notably, a single exam on February 6, 2024, was conducted to fill the vacancies for all these five years. One most significant outcomes of the result is that those who qualified for the years 2018 and 2019 also qualified for the rest of the year”s exam.
The conduct of a single exam for all these consecutive years impacts youth’s employment opportunities in multiple aspects. Firstly, the late examination by the central agency deprived these youth of 5 years of government employment and perks that must have received in those five years. Another is that this takes away the opportunity from those who missed the list as almost the same candidates qualify in all these years” exams. If the exam had been conducted on time this would have improved the chance of new candidates to appear in the list. Furthermore, it also will lead the vacant seats as all the vacancies can not be filled by the same person if he or she appears in all the lists until the commission makes some special provision to fill all the vacancies provided in all these years.
