Tripura's New Transfer Policy Will Limit Employee Long Stay At One Location, Says CM

The Tripura government is considering a comprehensive transfer policy for government employees to ensure an equitable distribution of postings across the state. The provisions will be made to accommodate special cases where necessary, the CM Manik Saha said.

According to the CM, the no employee will be permitted to remain in the same location for an extended period under any circumstances. “The current government functions with clarity and transparency in every sector”, said Saha while inaugurating the newly constructed building of Madhupur Higher Secondary School in Sepahijala district.

Earlier, the health and family welfare department of Tripura issued a comprehensive transfer policy for the smooth discharge of administrative work. As per the guidelines, the duration of posting of employees would be for at least three years. Each government employee would not be posted in one office for 5 years at a stretch, except in special circumstances.

Now, following a similar pattern, the state government is considering the new transfer policy for its employees.

In general transfers can be initiated by the government for functional needs, completing service tenures, or in cases of administrative exigencies, including disciplinary or vigilance proceedings. Employees may also request transfers, with certain conditions like minimum tenure at a station and consideration of factors like family circumstances and medical conditions.
