Palakkad, Kerala: Chenthamara, the 58-year-old accused of brutally murdering a mother-son duo in Kerala’s Nenmara was seen eating a meal at the police station after his arrest. According to eyewitnesses, Chenthamara’s first request after being taken into custody was for food, saying that he was hungry.

Chenthamara, who was arrested on Tuesday night from a field near his home in Pothundy, near Nenmara, is accused of killing Sudhakaran, 55, and his mother Lakshmi, 75 on Monday morning. The police had launched a massive search operation to apprehend Chenthamara, who had been absconding after the murder.

According to the police, Chenthamara had been hiding in the forest for two days and had returned home, unable to bear hunger. During questioning, he confessed to committing the double murder and showed no remorse for his crime.
The police have revealed that Chenthamara had a clear understanding of the area and had closely observed the police’s actions, which allowed him to remain hidden for two days.
However, his brother had informed the police that he would not survive more than two days without food, which led to his capture.

Chenthamara had previously been convicted of murder in 2019 for killing Sudhakaran’s wife, Sajitha. He was released on bail recently and allegedly committed Nenmara double murder soon after.
The police are investigating the motive behind the murder, which is believed to be related to a personal grudge against Sudhakaran’s family.
The arrest of Chenthamara has brought relief to the local community which was shocked by the brutal double murder. However, as Chenthamara eats his meal at the police station, the compatriots are left wondering how a person with a history of violence was allowed to walk free and commit another heinous crime.
The police have commended the locals who assisted in the search operation and have thanked them for their cooperation. The investigation is ongoing and the police are conducting evidence collection from the abode.
