Kerala: At Least 6 Killed, Many Injured In Blast At Thrissur Pooram Explosive Facility
Thrissur, Kerala: A major blast has occurred at a fireworks manufacturing unit at Thrissur Pooram explosive facility located at Mundathikode, leaving at least six people killed, and several other workers injured on Tuesday, April 21.
At least eight people are reported to be in critical condition. The fire explosion happened days ahead of the famous ThrissurPooram festival, and the sample fireworks were scheduled on April 24.

The incident happened at a unit engaged in preparing fireworks for the Thiruvambady faction of the Thrissur Pooram. Visuals from the spot shows fire and thick smoke rising and trees catching fire.

Thrissur was in preparations for the famous annual Hindu temple festival Thrissur Pooram. A large quantity of explosives was reportedly stored at the site, which caught fire and triggered the blast during ongoing preparation work. There were around 40 people who were working in the unit. Several managed to run away, according to officials.
Soon after the blast occurred, ambulances rushed to the scene, and the injured were shifted to Thrissur Medical College and other nearby hospitals.
