Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan distributed 31,499 title deeds in the land distribution title fest held on Thursday in Thrissur district. The state-level land title deed (Pattayam) fest is an initiative of the Kerala government to expedite the distribution of title deeds to the landless.
Sharing the initiative taken by the Kerala government on X, Pinarayi Vijayan wrote, “Across Kerala, 31,499 families have become proud landowners through the GoK’s statewide land title distribution fest held yesterday. This feat contributes to the LDF Govt’s dedicated effort to eliminate landlessness in the state, distributing over 3 lakh title deeds since 2016.”
While inaugurating the State Pattaya Mela at the student corner of the Thekini Maidani, the chief minister said that they are getting closer to the aim of Kerala devoid of landless people.
Since the LDF government assumed power in 2016, a total of 1,53,103 land deeds have been distributed so far. The left government is aiming to give one and a half lakh Pattayam (land title) in two and half years.
The Pattayam mission also aims to remove all legal and technical hurdles associated with Pattayam lands.
The government has also constituted a Pattayam mission consisting of monitoring committees from the village level to the state level to ensure Pattaya distribution to the landless in an effective and time-bound manner.
As per the TOI 2023 March report, as many as 1,32,229 applications are pending before the government seeking the title deeds.
The committee which is formed is in five levels- village, taluk, district, and state levels. The main function of the committee is to review the functioning of the mission, inter-departmental coordination for locating the land under the ownership of various departments, and also to recommend necessary legal amendments that are required in the applications with legal complications.
