A 59-year-old man was rescued on Monday morning after being stuck inside a hospital lift in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, for two days. He was rescued after the lift was operated for routine work, the police said.

Ravindran Nair, a resident of Ulloor, visited the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College with his wife, who works there, on Saturday. After consulting a doctor, she rejoined duty. On his way to leave the place, Ravindran claimed that he got into the lift to go to the first floor of the OP Block of the medical college, but the lift came down.

“He says he shouted for help, but no one came. His phone was also switched off,” the police said.

Reportedly, the lift was stuck between two floors. Ravindran, a worker at the Kerala legislative assembly, stated that he tried pressing the alarm and using the phone inside the lift, but no one responded.

“I tried calling all the emergency numbers listed inside the lift, but no one answered. The alarm was also sounded, but no one came. After some time, I understood that it was the second Saturday and a Sunday the next day, and then I waited for help,” he said.

The officials stated that the incident came to light on Monday morning when the lift operator opened the door after Ravindran pressed the alarm again.
