A special meeting of Kerala Cabinet was held on Thursday, June 13, decided that the state government will extend Rs.5 lakhs ex gratia for the family members of each of the Keralites who have lost their lives in the fire mishap in Kuwait. Besides, Rs. One lakh financial assistance will be given to the injured in the tragic mishap.
Veena George, the Minister for Health, Government of Kerala will immediately travel to Kuwait. The Minister will be accompanied by Jeevan Babu, State Mission Director (NHM). They will coordinate the efforts to provide treatment for the injured Keralites as well as to ensure the earliest repatriation of the mortal remains of the deceased, to Kerala.

Industrialists M. A. Yusuff Ali and Ravi Pillai has expressed willingness to the Chief Minister to provide financial assistance of Rs.5 lakhs and Rs. 2 lakhs, respectively, to the families of each of the deceased. They will be extending their assistance through NORKA.
Efforts are being taken under NORKA and the initiatives of NRI to provide all the assistance to those affected by the accident. As per the information received so far, 24 Keralites have died, of which 17 have been identified. Over 40 Indian were killed in the massive fire.
