Private College Gallery Collapses; At Least 16 Students Injured In Kerala

Kottayam, Kerala: At least sixteen students were injured at a private college in Kottayam on Friday when a temporary gallery, collapsed on the campus.

The gallery, which was collapsed, was set up as  part of the programme on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. The incident occurred around  8.45 am.

NCC and NSS students who had reached to the program from various units sustained injuries. The unfortunate incident happened when the students were asked to stand from their positions to take a count of their numbers, The New Indian Express reported citing sources.

Students legs got caught in-between the collapsed gallery portions, causing injuries. The authorities have taken the students to hospitals for the treatment.

None has sustained any serious injuries, the report added.
