Horrifying visuals of three gangsters attempting to kill a youth in Kerala’s Kayamkulam have gone viral on social media. The video shows the gang members threatening and beating a man on a railway line while showering him with abuses in Malayalam. According to local media reports, three of the gang members have been arrested, and one person connected to the attack is on the run. When Timeline contacted the Kayamkulam police station in Alappuzha district, the police official refused to divulge more details about the events.

Several accounts from media and locals indicate that everything started on Friday evening at a local tea shop in Kayamkulam’s Kottukulangara, where the gang members had a scuffle with police officials in plain clothes. When the police officers questioned a gang member who was smoking near the shop, they started arguing and attacking the police, unaware of the background of police officers who were in mafti. This led to a clash between the gang and the police, and after intervention from the locals, the police left the shop after detaining one person. Amidst the chaos, one of the gangsters lost his mobile phone, and an individual present handed it over to the Kayamkulam police.

According to reports, Arun Prasad from Krishnapuram Kappil East was the individual who handed over the mobile phone to the police and was mercilessly attacked after being kidnapped. The viral video shows Arun Prasad being beaten up and the gangsters waving machetes at him several times.

Reports have named Anup Shankar and Abhimanyu from Krishnapuram, and Amal from Pathiyoor as those arrested, while one perpetrator remains at large.
