In a heated contest between BJP’s Sumedhanand Saraswati and CPI(M)’s Amra Ram Paraswal in Sikar constituency, latter secured victory.
Amra Ram is a farmer leader and political leader from Shekhawati region. It is his fifth contest, and in the past four times, he lost the Sikar seat. The CPI(M) has backed him with confidence to reclaim the seat from the BJP.
Amra Ram won the seat by securing 6,59,300 votes with 50.68 percent of total votes polled in the constituency. He bagged victory with a majority of 72,896 votes.
Meanwhile, Sumedhanand Saraswati faced defeat after his successful run in the constituency for two consecutive times, i.e., 2014 and 2019. He held the seat for two terms. Also, BJP was confident about their win in the constituency since Sumedhanand Saraswati has managed to increase the vote margin from 239,196 in the 2014 Lok Sabha poll to 297,156 in 2019.
The seat falls under the General category, and the total turnout in Sikar declared by the Election Commission is 57.53%.
Caste-based votes played a major role in deciding the whirlwind in the election result in Sikar. The strength of Congress in various assembly segments resulted in the victory of Amra Ram. Out of the eight assembly segments, five segments are ruled by Congress and the latter three are ruled by BJP.
